Renowned Indian classical musician, Debashish Bhattacharya is gearing up to release a new single just in time for the Durga Puja festival.
Debashish Bhattacharya is arguably the greatest slide guitarist in the world. He is an undisputed master of the demanding technique and discipline of both Hindustani classical music and modern world fusion. He has revolutionised a number of technical aspects of performance on the instrument.
Debashish has played extensively around the globe, logging in over 3000 live performances and 27 albums. He has performed both live and on recordings with musical icons such as Ustad Zakir Hussain, John McLaughlin, Jerry Douglas, Derek Trucks, and many other world renowned musicians.
Debashish recently did an interview with the New India Express, where he explained that his music has been in his family for generations. He said that "I began learning as a child, and this journey has now spanned over 60 years." His foremost guru was Pandit Brij Bhushan Kabra, and his grand-guru was Ustad Ali Akbar Khan. He said "I also learned vocal music from Padma Bhushan Pandit Ajay Chakraborty. My parents were my first gurus, and I was fortunate to learn from Acharya Gokulnath ji of the Vishnupur Gharana. I am indebted to many gurus who shaped my musical path."
Durga Puja is one of the most significant Hindu festivals, especially celebrated in West Bengal, Assam, Odisha, and across eastern India.
