The Rough Guide To Afro-Cuba

Various

RGNET1070CD

The Rough Guide To Afro-Cuba celebrates the links between two great powerhouses of musical invention. Cuban dance rhythms were transported from Africa with slaves and melded with Spanish and indigenous elements to create the unique sound of Cuba. The Cuban music that emerged later exerted an influence on the music of the motherland, and modern Afro-pop evolved largely out of Latin music re-traditionalised by African countries. This album tracks the synthesis of Afro-Cuba through the music of classic Cuban bands, seminal African artists and their collaborations.
