A Year Of Success For 'Best Artist' Ibrahim Maalouf

Things are going well for Ibrahim Maalouf: earlier this year, the Paris-based Lebanese trumpeter received the 'Best Artist' award at the Les Victoires du Jazz 2013 (French Jazz awards ceremony) in Vienne. Furthermore, he has been established as the best sold French instrumentalist in France since 2011 (all categories combined). This is partly due to Wind(2012) and Diagnostic(2011), which were the best selling Jazz albums in France.

To top it off, his recently released album Illusions is once again a dazzling piece of work. The album is the result of a close collaboration with artists that have performed with Maalouf for over seven years. Not only does the album feature jazz, the songs are interspersed with a mix of Rock and Middle Eastern sounds. Unfortunately, no UK shows are currently planned, but watch this space!
