Alhousseini Anivolla's Favourite Tracks: Guest Playlist

WMN has created Riverboat Records artist Alhousseini Anivolla's guest playlist featuring some of his favourite tracks.

Alhousseini was born in the Saharan desert and is a nomad of Tuareg heritage. He explains ‘Since my childhood I have been walking in this world with open eyes. I am always curious and ready to learn, create and adapt.’ It was Alhousseini ’ curious nature that led him to join Etran Finatawa in 2003.

In 2012 Alhousseini released his debut album, Anewal/The Walking Manon Riverboat Records. The project was recorded in Niamey, the hustling-bustling capital of Niger. As the city hummed with heat and thick dust storms rolled in, Alhousseini Mohamed Anivolla and his good friend Michel Tranchet recorded the music heard here. Next, Colin Bass painstakingly tweaked, mixed and cultivated the swinging bluesy sounds with his expert touch. Alhousseini plays evocative and gutsy desert blues.

Now Alhousseini has selected an exclusive playlist for World Music Network. The line-up reflects his passion for blues and soul, with Malian master Ali Farka Toure featuring alongside American funk godfather, James Brown, and guitar god Jimi Hendrix. Miriam Makeba and Angelique Kidjo's tracks are powerful positive numbers.

Explore the Alhousseini's inspirations by listening to the playlist below:
