Aurelio Martinez on BBC 6 Music

Cerys Matthew, presenter of the 'Cerys on 6' programme on BBC 6 Music was joined for a live session on Sunday by Garifuna artist Aurelio Martinez from Honduras.

Aurelio is a tradition-bearer of the Garifuna culture that fuses African and Caribbean roots. Aurelio recorded his latest album 'Laru Beya' in Honduras and Belize, and it features contributions from Youssou N'Dour and Orchestra Baobab. It describes the struggles of the past and hopes for the future of the Garifuna, a community which originated from African slaves ship-wrecked on the Caribbean island of St. Vincent.

Aurelio and his band wowed WOMAD audiences earlier this year, and are currently on tour in the UK until the end of November.

Cerys' programme will only stay online for another six days, so get listening! She will be joined next Sunday by innovative Brazilian guitarist and producer Lucas Santtanafor another great live session. Don't forget to tune in!
