WOMEX is calling for proposals: you can submit proposals for showcases, conferences or films for WOMEX 15 until 10 April 2015. The world's largest conference on world music will take place in Budapest, Hungary from 21 October till 25 October 2015. Last year, over 60 acts featured on 7 WOMEX Showcase Festival stages including the Opening Concert, 668 exhibiting companies were part of the Trade Fair; over 70 speakers and mentors hosted 22 Conference sessions, networking meetings and presentations; 15 documentaries were screened as part of the WOMEX daytime and evening film screenings. Each year, WOMEX concludes with an award ceremony. During the ceremony in 2013, Riverboat Records/World Music Network received the WOMEX award for 'Best Record Label'. All in all, every edition of WOMEX makes for 5 packed networking days and rather short nights. In order to be just as successful as previous years however, WOMEX needs your programme ideas by Friday 10 April 2015. With three different categories of proposals, WOMEX encourages people from all sectors to apply.
'As with each year, we are looking to the global music community to help shape this year's programme. We invite all those active in the music world - from seasoned players with a host of knowledge to share and filmmakers with a flair for telling musical stories to boundary-crossing artists and DJs - to send in proposals that represent where the industry is today and where it is headed in the future. We are looking forward to the proposals that will come in over the following months.' - Alexander Walter, WOMEX Director.
Last year, the WOMEX Showcase Festival was headlined by Söndörg?. Parts of their performance at WOMEX 14 can be enjoyed in the music video below:
