Warp Records have announced that 'Kinshasa One Two', an album recorded in five days by a musical collective collated by Damon Albarnknown as DRC Music, will be released digitally on 3 October, followed by CD/vinyl release on 7 November. All profits will be going towards Oxfam's work in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Recorded in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo across five days in July 2011, 'Kinshasa One Two' is a collaboration between eleven producers: T-E-E-D, Dan The Automator, Jneiro Jarel, Richard Russell, Actress, Marc Antoine, Alwest, Remi Kabaka, Rodaidh McDonald, Kwesand Damon Albarn, and over fifty local musicians from Kinshasa including Jupiter and the Okwess International, Bokatola Systemand Nelly Liyemge.
The Democratic Republic of Congo has long been wracked by conflict and is home to one of the world's worst humanitarian crises. Creating truly innovative music while supporting Oxfam's work within the country makes DRC Music is a cause that definitely deserves support.
