Monoswezi's Favourite Tracks: Guest Playlist

Riverboat Records band Monoswezi have compiled an exclusive guest playlist featuring some of their favourite tracks.

The name Monoswezi is an appropriate name considering the group is a collective of musicians originally from Mozambique, Norway, Sweden and Zimbabwe.  It is made up of several different instruments including voice, mbira, percussion, clarinet, saxophone, bass and drums. The mbira is considered as the national instrument of Zimbabwe played by the Shona people for a thousand years. Their music is influenced by jazz and modern Western music as well as being rooted in traditional African music from Zimbabwe and Mozambique.

Monoswezi's excellent debut album The Village will be released on Riverboat Records on Jan 28 2013.

Monoswezi’s music sounds fresh and wide-open: traits that owe to the bands marvelously multi-cultural inspirations. Expect gentle mbira, looping percussion, memorable sung melodies, and subtle saxophone.
