Award winning alto-saxophonist, Soweto Kinch is one of the most exciting musicians on the British jazz scene with an impressive list of accolades and awards on both sides of the Atlantic – including a Mercury Music Prize nomination, two UMA Awards and two MOBOs. His live shows are equally acclaimed, with 5 star reviews for visually riveting events that deliver the melodic resourcefulness and improvisational creativity that has made him a world-league saxophonist. In 2001 he also established the Soweto Kinch Trio - with bassist Michael Olatuja and drummer Troy Miller, which played at Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club in Birmingham, and performed at the Royal Festival Hall and Cheltenham International Jazz Festival.
In this special event, Soweto with support from bass player, Karl Rasheed-Abel and Shaney Forbes on drums, premiers The Legend of Mike Smith – his stunning new album combining hip hop and jazz forms in a fresh exploration of the seven deadly sins. Expect to be seduced…
