The multi arts event consists of four legendary musicians from Niger from the groups Mamane Barka (nguruni virtuoso Mamane Barka and percussionist Oumarou Amadou) and Etran Finatawa (singer, guitarist and songwriter Alhousseini Anivollaand percussionist and singer Bammo Angonla). Incidentally,Alhousseini Anivolla has a forthcoming debut album with World Music Network on Riverboat Records.The show is completed by with visuals from internationally acclaimed acclaimed photographer and film-maker Jean Molitor, who created the documentary The Rolling Lesson on the musicians' mission to keep traditional music from Niger alive.
Together, the four musicians' swirling strings, driving rhythms and haunting vocals evoke the vast open spaces of the desert and the very soul of nomadic life.
