Starting tomorrow, the next seven Thursday evenings on BBC Radio 2 will be host to a guest DJ, Cuban-American superstar Gloria Estefan. The singer and songwriter will be sharing her passion for Latin music, traversing a myriad of musical genres from a variety of countries to provide the listener with a comprehensive, in-depth consideration of the wonder of Latin music.
The first programme features the music of Estefan's homeland Cuba and traces the beginnings of the Miami music scene. She'll be playing songs by Beny More, Perez Prado, Celia Cruz, Roberto Torres, as well as her own first international hit 'Conga'. Featured on Miami Sound Machine's 1985 album 'Primitive Love', the single appeared concurrently on Billboard's dance, Latin, black, and pop charts.
