We Face Forwardcelebrates the links between Manchester and West-Africa through an arts and music program. The organisation brings music and arts to you all summer, with a music program that is running until mid-September. Not only do performances occur at music venues; they make use of galleries, museums, parks and other public spaces too in order to create an intimate environment and to subvert excisting preconceptions on West-African art and music. We Face Forward presented several performances such as The Endless Journey (pictured below) earlier this month at the RNCM,and Femi Kutiat Band on the Wall.
Besides their music program, free art exhibitions have been set up in three venues in Manchester; Manchester Art Gallery, Whitworth Art Gallery and the Gallery of Costume in Platt Hall. The exhibitions feature work from dozens of artists from West African countries, and consists of paintings, photography, textiles, sculptures and videos.
Make a note of these interesting events at Band on the Wall, a not-for-profit venue run by the charity Inner City Music as they look really good!
